My name is Jennifer Steele and I just started my 12th year of teaching at Blue Lick Elementary, a part of JCPS. This is my fourth year at this particular school, and I absolutely love my co-workers. I have taught two years in 4th grade, 5 years in 1st grade, three years in 3rd grade, and this will be my second year in 2nd grade. I have previously been the School Technology Coordinator for my school for two years and I have worked with the school’s VEX Robotics team. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University Southeast. My Master’s Degree is in Elementary Education with a Focus on Technology from IUPUI. As much of my experience in the world of education has been focused on technology, I decided to pursue the LMS program at WKU, but taking the technology route. This helped me to earn my Rank I in December of 2016. I’m thrilled to be done with grad courses, as I do not have any plans to return in the immediate future, and hope to devote the time I used to spend on homework to my family.
I grew up in Indiana in a very small, rural community. I have lived in Louisville for 14 years. I have been married to my husband, Sean, for 6 years. We have a son named Michael, who turned 5 in March. Michael is starting Kindergarten at Blue Lick this year. We have 3 very needy cats. I enjoy reading in any free time I may have and weight lifting with my husband 3-4 times a week.
